Teacher Arrested, Charged in Jerusalem Arson Case
Jerusalem police have built a case against a teacher from East Jerusalem suspected of setting fire to a home in the Silwan neighborhood. The investigation began last month following a murder in the area, which triggered a wave of violence including arson attacks on residences. Detectives from the Central Unit in Jerusalem conducted a covert investigation, identifying and apprehending the suspect. It was revealed during the investigation that the individual works as a teacher in East Jerusalem's education system. Following the completion of the investigation and the compilation of evidence, the findings were transferred to the Jerusalem District Prosecutor's Office. The office filed a statement of claim against the suspect on Tuesday. The Jerusalem Magistrate's Court extended his remand until September 27, 2026.
