Prominent Vizhnitz Chassid, Community Figure Rabbi Chaim Weiltzer Dies at 80

Rabbi Chaim Weiltzer, a respected figure in the Vizhnitz Chassidic community and a long-time owner of a silver shop in Bnei Brak, passed away this morning at the age of 80 after a prolonged illness. He was the only son of Rabbi Berel Weiltzer, who served as a close aide to the previous Vizhnitz Rebbe, Rabbi Eliezer of Damesek. Rabbi Weiltzer was raised within the Vizhnitz dynasty and was deeply devoted to its traditions.

For decades, Rabbi Weiltzer managed a well-known silver shop in Bnei Brak. During his business career, he faced significant challenges, including multiple violent robberies of his store. Despite these hardships, he maintained his faith and continued his work with resilience and grace.

Beyond his business, Rabbi Weiltzer was a prominent voice in the Vizhnitz choir, lending his singing to important community events and celebrations. He was also known as the "Purim Rabbi" for his many years of bringing joy to the community on the holiday of Purim with his spirited performances.

Rabbi Weiltzer battled a severe illness in recent years, enduring significant suffering before his passing. He is survived by his son, Israel Weiltzer, his sons-in-law, and his extended family. His passing is mourned by the Vizhnitz community and beyond.
