Prominent Vizhnitz Hasid Rabbi Abraham Wasserman Passes Away at 84 in Bnei Brak

Rabbi Abraham Wasserman, a revered elder and notable figure in the Vizhnitz Hasidic community of Bnei Brak, passed away at the age of 84. Known for his deep scholarship and devout Hasidic lifestyle, Rabbi Wasserman was the head of one of the largest and most respected free-loan funds (gemach) in the Vizhnitz neighborhood, providing extensive charitable support to the needy. He was closely connected to the late Vizhnitz Rebbe, Rabbi Moshe Yehoshua Hager (the "Imrei Chaim"), serving at times as his gabbai and was honored with the privilege of leading the Mincha prayer on holiday eves for many years.

Rabbi Wasserman was also a family man who raised a distinguished Torah-observant family within the Vizhnitz community. Professionally, he frequently traveled to the United States to sell silverware and maintained a home winery where he produced wine with his sons. Each week, he had the honor of holding the Havdalah candle for the current Vizhnitz Rebbe, a role he also fulfilled during the tenure of the late "Imrei Chaim."

His funeral is scheduled for Friday afternoon, on the eve of the Shabbat of Parashat Ki Tavo, departing at 14:00 from the Great Synagogue in the Vizhnitz neighborhood to the Vizhnitz cemetery in Bnei Brak. The family is sitting shiva at their home on 40 Avraham Ben David Street in Bnei Brak. The community mourns the loss of a man whose life was dedicated to Torah, kindness, and communal leadership.
