Prominent Vizhnitz Chassid and Silverware Shop Owner Rabbi Chaim Weitzler Dies at 80

Rabbi Chaim Weitzler, a prominent figure in the Vizhnitz Chassidic community and owner of a well-known silverware shop in Bnei Brak, passed away on Thursday morning at the age of 80 after a prolonged illness. He was the only son of Rabbi Berel Weitzler, who served as a personal assistant to the previous Vizhnitz Rebbe, Rabbi Eliezer of Damesek. Rabbi Weitzler was raised within the Vizhnitz Chassidic dynasty and was deeply devoted to its traditions.

For decades, Rabbi Weitzler managed his silverware store in Bnei Brak, a business that faced significant challenges, including multiple violent robberies. Despite these hardships, he maintained his faith and continued his work with inspiring grace. He was also a central voice in the historic Vizhnitz choir, lending his voice to important community events and celebrations.

Known within the community as the "Purim Rabbi," he brought joy to many for years with his spirited celebrations on the holiday of Purim. In his later years, he battled a severe illness, enduring great suffering before his passing. He is survived by his son, Rabbi Yisrael Weitzler, his sons-in-law, and his extended family.
