Likud Factions Divided Over Ofer Winter's Political Future

Within the Likud party, there are conflicting assessments regarding the political strategy surrounding Ofer Winter. According to a report by Anna Bar-ski of Maariv, some Likud sources fear that continued attacks on Winter might not force his withdrawal but instead weaken him, potentially causing his votes to fall below the electoral threshold. These sources believe this scenario could cost the right-wing bloc crucial Knesset seats.

Conversely, these same individuals suggest that halting attacks against Winter would be a more effective strategy. They advocate for allowing him to establish himself above the electoral threshold and even propose signing a surplus vote agreement with him. This approach, they argue, would solidify his electoral base and benefit the broader right-wing coalition.

One party source stated, "Many people think it's a mistake to continue trying to bring him down." This source estimates that Winter could secure four to five Knesset seats, thereby contributing significant electoral power to the right-wing bloc.
