A 51-year-old man died Saturday night after falling during a Goose concert at Madison Square Garden in New York City. He fell from an elevated area inside the arena to a lower level, and police said they were called at about 9:51 p.m. when officers found him unconscious and unresponsive.
New York police told the New York Post that the man was rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Authorities said the incident is still under investigation.
The band said after the show that it was “sad and heartbroken” by the “tragic event” and offered “our deepest condolences to everyone affected.” It also thanked “the security personnel and arena staff who intervened with care and support.” The concert was the second of two sold-out nights.
Despite the death, Goose did not stop the Saturday performance and continued with its full set and encore, which was streamed live on Amazon Music. According to social media witnesses, about seven rows in the lower level where the man landed were cordoned off by police, and spectators seated there were moved to other seats in the arena. The band is scheduled to perform in New York at a festival later Sunday.
