A 51-year-old man died Saturday night after falling from an elevated position during a Goose concert at Madison Square Garden in New York. The incident happened at 9:51 p.m., according to the New York Police Department.
Police said officers who responded found the man unconscious and unresponsive. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Authorities did not disclose the height of the fall, and the circumstances are under investigation.
Goose, whose members are Rick Mitarotonda, Trevor Weekz, Peter Anspach and Cotter Ellis, said it was deeply saddened and heartbroken by the tragedy. The band said it was “sad and heartbroken to hear about the tragic event that occurred at tonight’s concert,” and thanked emergency crews and venue staff for their help and support.
Venue staff cleared at least seven rows around the area where the incident occurred. The concert continued after the emergency response, and the band finished its full set shortly before midnight.
