Nissan Reveals Pixo EV, Sister Model to Renault Twingo

Nissan has unveiled its new Pixo electric vehicle for the European market, which is based on the Renault Twingo but features distinct design elements for a more youthful appearance. The previous generation Nissan Pixo was a rebadged Suzuki Alto, but this new model shares its platform with the Twingo, similar to how the Nissan Leaf was based on the Renault 5 EV.

The Pixo adopts a modern design language, contrasting with the Twingo's retro styling. It features a more upright hood, unique "pixel" style daytime running lights, and a clean front bumper. The side profile is similar to the Twingo, except for the front fenders and distinctive "pixel"-patterned alloy wheels. The rear also shows a connection to the Twingo, particularly in the black plastic trim around the rear window, which incorporates "pixelated" Pixo badging. Dimensions are nearly identical to the Twingo, measuring 3.80 meters long, 1.79 meters wide, and 1.51 meters high, with a wheelbase of 2.49 meters. The trunk offers 356 liters of space with the rear seats folded forward, and there is storage for charging cables underneath.

The interior is largely the same as the Twingo's, with minor changes to the dashboard's upper section, which has more angular elements. The side air vents have colored accents, and the gray plastic trim panels feature "Pixo" lettering, replacing the colored inserts found in the Twingo. The steering wheel is identical to the Twingo's, but with a Pixo logo in the center. The car includes 23 "Easter eggs" referencing "Ni-San" (Nissan in Japanese), such as a robot icon. Like the Twingo, it has only two rear seats, which can slide to increase cargo space.

Technology includes a 10-inch Google-based multimedia screen with a Gemini assistant available in 16 languages, supporting navigation via Google Maps and entertainment functions. A customizable 7-inch digital instrument cluster can also display navigation from Waze. Standard safety features are included, such as adaptive cruise control, and Nissan will offer an automatic parking system.

The Pixo is powered by a 60 kW (82 hp) electric motor, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in over 12 seconds. It features a 27.5 kWh LFP battery offering a range of 259 km. It supports 11 kW home charging and 50 kW fast charging, which can charge the battery from 15% to 80% in 28 minutes. The vehicle can be driven using a single pedal from acceleration to a complete stop. The importer in Israel, "Pri-Zvi," stated that Nissan is undergoing changes and entering new European market categories, and marketing in Israel will be evaluated based on mass production. Currently, it seems unlikely to be sold in Israel, but the importer hopes for a positive surprise.
