Yisrael Beiteinu Seeks Knesset Ban for Parties Opposing Hamas Destruction

The Yisrael Beiteinu party, led by Avigdor Lieberman, announced its intention to support initiatives to ban several political factions and individuals from participating in the upcoming Knesset elections. The party's decision stems from its stance that any future government must prioritize the destruction of Hamas. Yisrael Beiteinu stated that parties opposing this objective have no place in the Israeli parliament.

Specifically, the party declared it would vote to prohibit the participation of the Ra'am party, the Joint List, and individual lawmakers Ofer Cassif and Sami Abu Shehadeh. "Any Zionist government that will be formed after the elections must define the destruction of Hamas as the central goal of its security policy," Yisrael Beiteinu said in a statement. "Any party that opposes this has no place in the Knesset of Israel."

The Central Elections Committee is scheduled to convene on Wednesday and Thursday to review approximately ten requests to disqualify parties and candidates from the 26th Knesset elections. The proceedings will be chaired by the head of the committee, Judge Noam Solberg, and will be broadcast live.

Among the petitions to be considered are three seeking to ban the Ra'am list, submitted by the Otzma Yehudit party, Likud, and the "Voters for Life" forum. The committee will also review two petitions against Otzma Yehudit, filed by the organization "Tzulat - for Equality and Human Rights" and the "Democrats" party. Otzma Yehudit itself has filed a petition to ban the "Democrats" party.

Further petitions include one from "Orotot Ha'Shachar" to ban the Balad party, and a Likud petition to disqualify the Joint List and Ofer Cassif. Another petition targets Balad chairman Sami Abu Shehadeh. The organization "Tzulat" also submitted a request to ban the "Religious Zionism" list and the "Zeut" party.
