Man Accused of Stabbing Girlfriend After She Refused Marriage Proposal

A 20-year-old resident of Jatt will be indicted for allegedly stabbing his 18-year-old girlfriend from Jisr az- Zarqa, causing a light injury to her hand. The incident occurred on September 14th at the central bus station in Hadera. According to the suspicion, the young man stabbed the girl because she refused to get engaged to him. He was filmed fleeing the scene immediately after the attack and was apprehended shortly thereafter by Hadera police officers, who transferred him for investigation.

The victim told Ynet that she had decided to break up with him after they had been in a relationship for six months. She stated that, "according to customs and tradition," he began threatening her, saying, "I will dig you a grave and kill you." She did not believe he would actually harm her, but he stabbed her three times in the hand. She described the experience as shocking, saying she "saw death before her eyes" and would never forget it.

Police reported that the suspect's detention was extended periodically. Following the completion of all investigative actions and the gathering of evidence, a statement of charges was filed against him by the prosecution's coastal district unit, in preparation for filing an indictment and a request for his remand until the end of proceedings.
