Man Charged After Throwing Fiancée Down Stairs and Threatening Her in Tel Aviv
A serious indictment was filed by the Tel Aviv District Prosecutor's Office against a man accused of violently assaulting his fiancée during a nighttime argument. According to the indictment, the man threw his partner down a flight of stairs, causing her multiple fractures and bleeding. He then pressured her to claim she had fallen on her own and threatened to release private videos if she did not comply.
The victim sustained severe injuries, including several broken bones and bleeding. Despite witnessing her condition, the accused called an ambulance but insisted she stick to the false story of an accidental fall. The indictment charges him with aggravated assault.
Police investigations revealed inconsistencies in the accused's statements compared to the victim's consistent account. Initially, he claimed the victim fell by herself after he went to check on a scooter she had damaged. Later, he changed his story, alleging she ran at him with sticks, which he grabbed, causing her to fall down the stairs. He also gave conflicting reasons for locking her out of the apartment, citing her alleged psychotic episode and threats to kill him.
In a later interrogation, the accused added that the victim had fallen days before the incident, causing her injuries, a claim he never mentioned previously. When questioned about his contradictory versions, he alternately cited love for the victim or fear of her as reasons for withholding details.
The case highlights ongoing issues of domestic violence and abuse, with the Tel Aviv District Court handling the proceedings. The indictment underscores the severity of the assault and the accused's attempts to manipulate the narrative through threats and lies.
