Netanyahu Slams NYC Mayor Adams for Hamas Support, War Crime Accusations

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sharply criticized New York City Mayor Eric Adams on Tuesday, accusing him of supporting Hamas terrorists and inciting violence against New York's Jewish community. Netanyahu's remarks came just days before his arrival at the United Nations General Assembly.

"Shame on you, Mr. Adams. Shame on you for supporting the terrorist monsters of Hamas who massacred our people. Shame on you for inciting riots against the Jews of New York," Netanyahu stated. "I am coming to the UN. I am going to tell the truth about our heroic soldiers, and I am going to tell the truth about you."

Adams' comments, which drew Netanyahu's ire, were made during a CNN interview. When asked if he regretted his previous statement about enforcing an international arrest warrant against Netanyahu, Adams described the Israeli Prime Minister as a "war criminal" and the "architect of a terrible genocide of the Palestinian people." Adams acknowledged that the city of New York lacks the authority to enforce an arrest warrant from the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague.

Earlier in July, Adams had stated he was working to issue an arrest warrant for the Prime Minister. In a separate interview on "The Interview," Adams confirmed he was still actively discussing the matter with the city's legal department to explore his authority to carry out such an arrest. He reiterated his belief that Netanyahu should face trial at the ICC, citing the existing indictment against him by the international court.
