New York Mayor Calls for Netanyahu Arrest Warrant Execution

New York City Mayor Eric Adams, in a CNN interview, reiterated his strong criticism of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, labeling him a "war criminal" and the "architect of a horrific genocide of the Palestinian people." Adams made these remarks ahead of Netanyahu's scheduled address at the UN General Assembly. The mayor confirmed that he had discussed the matter with the U.S. President during a recent meeting.

Adams specifically addressed the International Criminal Court's (ICC) arrest warrant for Netanyahu, related to actions against Hamas in Gaza. He emphasized the importance of adhering to international law, stating, "I do believe that this decision should be enforced." He further questioned the selective application of justice, asking, "If the International Criminal Court has deemed someone to be arrested for violating these laws, then who are we to say that someone should stand above that? I absolutely believe that everyone should be held accountable."

Despite Adams' statements, New York City authorities have previously acknowledged lacking the legal authority to enforce such an order. Additionally, the U.S. administration has ruled out the possibility of detaining the Israeli leader on American soil.
