This strong anti-Israel stance from the mayor contrasts with a surprising political development: former President Donald Trump visited Adams at his residence. This meeting, the third between the two in less than a year, saw them display apparent warmth and chemistry, despite their ideological differences.
Trump publicly praised Adams, stating, "I want him to be a great mayor, he certainly has the potential." This apparent endorsement of Adams by Trump, while Adams is criticizing Netanyahu, is drawing significant attention, especially as there are no current plans for Trump to meet with Netanyahu during his UN visit.
This development follows a recent public shift by Adams regarding Netanyahu's visit. He had previously indicated he would not participate in protests against the Prime Minister and distanced himself from claims that he had encouraged such demonstrations in the past.
