Gal Gadot Triples Grant for Israeli Trauma and Mental Health Support
Israeli-American actress Gal Gadot is significantly expanding her philanthropic efforts for victims of trauma and mental health challenges in Israel. Initially pledging the $1 million Genesis Prize she received in 2026, Gadot, in partnership with the Genesis Prize Foundation and a Jewish donor network, has now tripled the total grant to $3 million. This substantial sum will be distributed among 27 organizations dedicated to supporting individuals and families affected by the October 7th Hamas attack and the subsequent war.
The initiative aims to bolster mental health and rehabilitation services across Israel, focusing on trauma survivors, mental health professionals, bereaved families, and communities grappling with the war's repercussions. Gadot stated that the grants are specifically intended for the caregivers and medical teams who are instrumental in helping those rebuilding their lives. "Caring for one another and solidarity are our way forward," Gadot remarked, emphasizing that strengthening caregivers will aid in healing families and communities.
The selection process involved reviewing approximately 150 applications from organizations nationwide. The 27 chosen recipients, including Make-A-Wish Israel, United Hatzalah, and CareGivers Israel, were selected based on their operational scope and anticipated contribution to mental health support systems. This effort comes amid a severe and ongoing mental health crisis in Israel, with millions reportedly experiencing psychological distress due to the conflict.
Since the October 7th attacks, Gadot has been a prominent international advocate for Israel, condemning Hamas, calling for the release of hostages, and working to inform global leaders and influencers about the atrocities committed.
