Gal Gadot Pledges $3 Million for Israeli Mental Health Services

Israeli actress Gal Gadot has spearheaded a philanthropic initiative that will allocate $3 million to 24 Israeli organizations focused on mental health and trauma care. Gadot chose to dedicate the $1 million prize money she received from the Genesis Prize to support individuals impacted by the psychological consequences of the October 7, 2023 Hamas attacks and the subsequent war.

A campaign led by the Jewish Funders Network successfully raised an additional $2 million from private donors and corporations. Beneficiary organizations include Make-A-Wish Israel, United Hatzalah, and CareGivers Israel.

The grants will fund various services such as treatments, psychological consultations, caregiver training, and social services. The selected programs aim to assist healthcare professionals, first responders, educators, social workers, family caregivers, children, war survivors, and individuals experiencing combat-related trauma.

"After three years of war, extraordinary loss, and hardship, I believe healing begins from within," Gadot stated. She expressed her desire to direct these funds towards the "doctors, nurses, first responders, mental health professionals, and caregivers" who support victims daily.

Approximately 150 organizations applied for funding, with 54 advancing to the final selection stage before the 24 recipients were chosen. These organizations are located across northern, central, and southern Israel. Gadot concluded, "By strengthening those who care for others, we can begin to heal families and communities, restore connection, and create the possibility for a more peaceful future."
