Gal Gadot Recounts Early Career Controversy Over Israeli Stereotypes

Israeli actress Gal Gadot recently appeared on the American podcast "Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard," where she discussed early challenges in her international career. Gadot shared an anecdote from when she was 21 and had just completed military service. Around the same time, she posed for the cover of MAXIM magazine, which led to a New York Post headline and sparked a media storm.

Gadot explained that the controversy prompted a call from an ambassador who informed her, "Listen, there's an issue." She described the situation as a "silly argument" and stated her intention was twofold: to avoid engaging in a pointless debate and to invite people to visit Israel, as she felt many had misconceptions about the country.

During her discussions with journalists following the MAXIM cover incident, Gadot aimed to dismantle stereotypes about Israel. She recalled that some people believed Israelis rode camels and were constantly surrounded by M16 rifles, which she stated was not the case. The podcast host humorously responded, "You ride donkeys and walk around with M4s."

Gadot reiterated her invitation for journalists to experience Israel firsthand, describing it as "amazing" and "so much fun." She expressed a desire to break down the prevailing stereotypes that portrayed Israel as a land of camels and constant military presence.
