Israelis Dramatically Increase Donations to Mental Health and Support Projects

Israeli citizens have significantly shifted their philanthropic focus, with a marked increase in donations directed towards mental health initiatives and other support programs, according to data from donation platforms Jgive and Charidy. Both platforms report a rise in both the total amount donated and the number of donors, but a notable change in the allocation of funds.

While donations for immediate wartime needs have decreased, there's a substantial surge in contributions for mental health services, rehabilitation, social aid, memorial projects, and food security. Specifically, Jgive observed that donations for mental health and post-traumatic stress treatment campaigns in the first half of 2026 were nearly five times higher than in the corresponding period of 2023, before the war.

In contrast, donations for campaigns supporting soldiers and reservists saw a halving compared to their peak in the first half of 2024. Donations for food packages have increased by over 50% compared to pre-war levels, and contributions to memorialization projects have tripled.

This trend indicates a growing public emphasis on long-term recovery, psychological well-being, and community support in the wake of ongoing conflict.
