Slain Israeli Father Sacrifices Himself, Saves Son in West Bank Attack

A 16-year-old boy recounted how his father, Natanel Shukrun, died saving him during a shooting attack near the settlement of Neve Tzuf in the Benjamin region. As the terrorist opened fire on their car, Shukrun managed to tell his son, Yoav, to run. Yoav Shukrun, speaking two days after the attack, told Ynet that he did not notice the attacker approaching and was unaware if the assailant saw him. He recalled shouting after bullets shattered the car windows. The teenager survived by signaling a nearby IDF soldier, who then engaged the terrorist. Yoav attempted to rouse his father, but received no response. "I held my father's hand. I felt a pulse. Then someone came, and Dad was taken away. He was still alive," Yoav remembered. He also spoke of a call with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who promised to punish those responsible. However, Yoav believes stronger measures are needed to change the situation, stating such actions should have been taken earlier.

Yoav's uncle, Jackie, shared that Natanel's mother had a difficult pregnancy and was advised to terminate it, but chose to carry him to term. Natanel grew into an extraordinary individual, balancing interests like sailing, studying Torah, working in high-tech, and traveling to India. He was known for his ability to connect with diverse people and his calm demeanor, resolving conflicts without raising his voice. Hamas praised the attack, calling it a response to Netanyahu's actions at the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
