Sukkot Markets Open in Beit Shemesh Amid Strong Shopper Turnout

Shopping centers in Beit Shemesh, specifically "Ha'Shdera" and "Sun Mall," launched dedicated markets for the "Arba Minim" (Four Species) on Tuesday, coinciding with the upcoming Sukkot holiday. These markets, which also offer sukkahs, decorations, and other holiday items, were established in coordination with the municipality to provide a convenient shopping experience for residents and a regulated environment for vendors. The city's regulations aim to maintain order and accessibility in public spaces, with municipal inspectors prepared to enforce rules for any locations operating without the necessary permits from the business licensing department.

Market managers reported a significant influx of shoppers on the first day of operation, with vendors noting increased sales even for non-holiday related goods. This suggests a positive spillover effect on local businesses.

Mayor Shmuel Greenberg and City Manager Eliad Abramczyk visited the markets, engaging with vendors and managers who highlighted the strong response and the markets' contribution to local commerce. "The holiday markets allow residents to purchase what is needed for Sukkot comfortably and at ease, while simultaneously strengthening local trade," Mayor Greenberg stated. "I was pleased to hear that shoppers visiting the market are also patronizing nearby businesses."

Deputy Mayor and head of the Welfare and Community Services department, Hanoch Dranger, added that the regulated markets ensure a robust and high-quality shopping experience within the city's main malls, contributing to a clean and pleasant atmosphere as the city enters the Sukkot holiday.
