Jerusalem's Traditional Four Species Market Opens for Sukkot

Jerusalem's annual traditional Four Species market has opened in Valero Square, near the Mahane Yehuda market, in anticipation of the Sukkot holiday. The vibrant market, a decades-old Jerusalem tradition, offers residents and visitors a wide array of goods for the holiday.

The market will operate daily from Tuesday, September 22, until the eve of Sukkot. It is expected to draw thousands of shoppers and visitors, transforming the area into a hub of commerce, tradition, and holiday spirit. Stalls will feature the "four species" (etrog, lulav, hadassim, aravot), Sukkah decorations, Judaica items, and other holiday necessities.

Operating hours are from 8:00 AM to 11:00 PM on Tuesday through Thursday, September 22-24. On Friday, September 25, the market will be open from 8:00 AM until one hour before the holiday begins.

Jerusalem Mayor Moshe Lion stated, "Sukkot is a holiday of tradition, family, hospitality, and joy, and there is no better place to experience this atmosphere than Jerusalem. The Four Species market is a long-standing Jerusalem tradition that connects the city's residents, visitors, and the diverse communities that make up Jerusalem. I invite everyone to come, see, shop, and feel Jerusalem's unique holiday spirit."

The Jerusalem Municipality has enhanced city services, including cleaning, sanitation, maintenance, security, and enforcement, particularly in commercial and entertainment areas, in preparation for the High Holidays and Sukkot.
