Israel Protests UN Speech, Walks Out During Erdogan's Remarks
The Israeli delegation demonstratively walked out of the UN General Assembly hall in New York on Tuesday during a speech by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The walkout occurred immediately after Erdogan began harshly criticizing Israel and its policies. During his address, the Turkish president invoked Holocaust imagery and made accusations regarding Gaza.
Erdogan stated, "Today, Gaza is not only the largest graveyard for children in the world, it is also the place where the rate of limb amputations among children is the highest in the world." He further claimed, "Gaza has become the most inhumane and shameful concentration camp of our time."
The Israeli delegation's departure was a direct response to these remarks.
