Woman Accused in Murder Case Hospitalized with Suspected Stroke

Liron Sasson, 46, who is accused of involvement in the murder of Bnei Razi, was hospitalized on Tuesday with a suspected stroke. Sasson, a resident of Jerusalem and mother of Aviyaor Sasson, who is accused of committing the murder, faces charges of aiding and abetting after the fact and obstructing justice.

Her hospitalization comes just days after she complained of severe headaches, vision problems, and difficulty walking. Her attorney, Chen Meiri, filed an urgent petition last Friday, alleging that the Israel Prison Service (IPS) was refusing to provide her with adequate medical treatment despite her complaints.

In response to the petition, the IPS claimed Sasson was feigning her condition, stating she appeared to have difficulty walking upon entering the clinic but walked freely upon leaving. However, shortly after this response, Sasson was transferred from Neve Tirtza prison to Assaf Harofeh Medical Center, where a stroke was suspected.

Attorney Meiri expressed regret that the IPS chose to view her client as a malingerer, stating, "The result was not long in coming." She also criticized National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, suggesting that "proper treatment for detainees does not provide ratings, and therefore allows for the trivialization of human life."

The IPS stated that Sasson was examined by a prison doctor who referred her for further medical evaluation. She was transported by IPS vehicle to the hospital, where she was admitted for medical reasons unrelated to her detention. The IPS added that she would be returned to the custody of the Israel Police.
