Channel 14 Host Yair Magal Offers No Apology for Yom Kippur Broadcast

Yair Magal, a host on Israel's Channel 14, stated on Tuesday that he does not believe he offended anyone during his Yom Kippur broadcasts. Speaking on the radio program 103fm, Magal said, "I performed all the prayers. I don't think I hurt anyone, I don't have that feeling."

This contrasts with his Channel 14 colleague, Dana Varon, who offered an apology to viewers before Yom Kippur. Varon stated, "I ask forgiveness from anyone who was personally hurt by me. Not for my ideology, but for hurting a person. We are allowed to disagree in our opinions, but never to disagree in our hearts. Moments before Yom Kippur and two moments before the elections, I wholeheartedly forgive and pardon every Jew, whoever he may be."

Another colleague, Itamar Fleishman, also from Channel 14, discussed the heavy feelings he experiences after some broadcasts and the online reactions he receives. In an interview with Omri Asnaim on Channel 13, Fleishman admitted to sometimes feeling disgusted with himself after broadcasts, stating, "Yes, of course. Obviously, what do you mean, no question. Your hands are always in the mud. There's no escaping the mud hurting you and you causing it, there are days like that."

Fleishman described his post-broadcast routine, saying he doesn't go straight to bed but sits on the balcony, feeling very down about himself. He also mentioned that on such days, he makes a point of reading the harsh online comments, believing he needs to learn from them.
