Channel 14 Host Slams Netanyahu for Shabbat Interview

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's decision to give an interview to i24NEWS on Friday evening has sparked public controversy, with sharp criticism coming from Boaz Golan, a host on Channel 14, a media outlet often seen as aligned with him. Golan launched a frontal attack on the Prime Minister, specifically objecting to the interview being scheduled for broadcast during Shabbat, the Jewish Sabbath.

In a post on his X account, formerly Twitter, Golan questioned the move, stating that his research indicated no sitting prime minister had given interviews for broadcast on Friday night since the establishment of the state, even if pre-recorded or partially aired. He noted that the only previous instance of this norm being broken was in 2010 by Netanyahu himself, who later apologized and pledged to avoid such actions in the future.

Golan criticized the perceived gap between Netanyahu's public statements and his actions, arguing that someone who frequently invokes divine assistance during an existential war cannot disregard the sanctity of Shabbat. The Channel 14 host concluded his remarks by calling the decision a "disgrace."
