Channel 14 Host Slams Netanyahu Over Shabbat Interview
Channel 14 host Boaz Golan has sharply criticized Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for agreeing to an interview with i24NEWS that is scheduled to air on "Cabinet Friday" on Friday evening, after the start of the Sabbath. Golan asserted that this is an unusual move for an Israeli prime minister, stating that his research indicates no sitting prime minister has ever given an interview to a program broadcast on the Sabbath eve since the establishment of the state, even for pre-recorded interviews.
Golan pointed to a previous instance in 2010 where Netanyahu himself conducted such an interview, but subsequently apologized and pledged not to repeat the action. Golan argued that Netanyahu is now repeating this move, despite his frequent public references to divine assistance during the ongoing war.
"One who speaks in the media about 'heavenly assistance' in an existential war cannot desecrate the Sabbath, the source of the blessing for the people of Israel," Golan wrote, concluding his criticism with the word "shame."
