Channel 14 Host Slams Netanyahu for Shabbat Interview

Boaz Golan, a prominent host on Channel 14 known for his right-wing views and past support for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, has sharply criticized the premier over an upcoming interview scheduled to air on Shabbat, the Jewish day of rest. Golan argued that no sitting prime minister has ever given an interview to be broadcast on Shabbat since the establishment of the state, regardless of whether it was pre-recorded or featured clips after Shabbat.

Golan pointed to a past incident in 2010 where Netanyahu himself apologized after a similar situation and pledged to avoid it in the future. "This week he is doing it again," Golan stated, highlighting a perceived contradiction between Netanyahu's public statements about divine assistance during the ongoing war and his actions regarding Shabbat observance.

"Anyone who speaks in the media about 'heavenly aid' in an existential war cannot desecrate Shabbat, the source of blessing for the people of Israel. Shame!" Golan wrote, concluding his strong remarks. The criticism comes amid heightened sensitivity to Shabbat observance within the religious and ultra-Orthodox public, particularly concerning senior public figures.

Netanyahu, who previously faced similar criticism and apologized, finds himself once again at the center of a controversy surrounding the sanctity of Shabbat.
