Golan stated in a tweet that his research indicated no sitting prime minister since the establishment of the state had given an interview for broadcast on Shabbat eve, even if pre-recorded. He recalled that Netanyahu himself did so in 2010 but later apologized and pledged to avoid such occurrences in the future.
"This week he is doing it again," Golan wrote, adding, "One who speaks in the media about 'siyata d'shmaya' in an existential war cannot desecrate Shabbat, the source of blessing for the people of Israel. Shame."
