Channel 14 Host Itamar Fleishman Regrets Controversial Hostage Remarks

Itamar Fleishman, a panelist and substitute host on Channel 14's program 'HaPatriotim,' has expressed regret over his past controversial statements, particularly concerning Israeli hostages held in Gaza. In a recent interview with Channel 13, Fleishman admitted that certain remarks about the hostages left him feeling deeply disturbed, prompting him to review social media reactions to improve his on-air performance.

Fleishman stated that he regrets every word he uttered on the subject, describing it as the most haunting aspect of his work, even though he believed he was factually correct. He confessed to feeling overwhelmed, questioning his own knowledge and role in discussing such a sensitive issue. He acknowledged the impossible dilemma faced by Israel: either secure the hostages' release, risking future abductions of larger numbers, or leave them in captivity, where some might die.

He specifically recalled a night when he allegedly suggested killing the hostages, a statement he denies making directly but for which he expressed profound remorse. Fleishman explained that while he felt compelled to state what he perceived as the difficult truth, he was deeply affected by the pain of hostage families hearing such words, particularly the implication of leaving their children in captivity.
