A man in his early twenties was seriously injured Tuesday morning in a car accident in Rahat, after the vehicle he was driving collided with a utility pole. Social media footage shows the car hitting the pole with significant force.

Emergency medical services received a report of the accident and dispatched paramedics to the scene. They provided initial medical treatment to the young driver, who sustained multiple systemic injuries, and transported him to Soroka Hospital in Be'er Sheva in critical, unstable condition. "The vehicle had severe body damage. The driver, a young man about 20 years old, suffered multiple systemic injuries. We provided him with medical treatment including anesthesia and ventilation, and then evacuated him by a mobile intensive care unit to the hospital in serious condition," said MDA paramedic Anis Abu Daabes.

This incident follows another fatal road accident near Rahat just four days prior, where a 7-year-old boy died. In that case, the child was brought by private vehicle to meet MDA teams on Route 264, near the city's entrance junction. Paramedics found him with multiple systemic injuries and no signs of life, and pronounced him dead.

The police have opened an investigation into the circumstances of the latest accident. Officers from the Rahat station and accident investigators from the Negev region are at the scene and continuing their inquiry.
