Five Arrested in Tel Aviv for Burglary Spree During Yom Kippur

Police in Tel Aviv arrested five suspects during Yom Kippur in connection with four separate burglaries targeting businesses and an apartment across the city. In several instances, stolen property was recovered from the suspects shortly after the alleged thefts. Officers from the Lev Tel Aviv station, part of the Yarkon district, conducted visible and undercover patrols targeting property criminals, with an increased presence in various city locations during the holiday.

In one incident early in the morning, a report of a break-in at a cafe on Hayarkon Street led to the apprehension of two Tel Aviv residents in their 20s. They were found nearby on a scooter with laptops belonging to the establishment. In another case, a man from Sakhnin in his 30s was arrested leaving a liquor store with over ten bottles of alcohol valued at hundreds of shekels.

Following a report of a residential burglary on Balfour Street, a Lod resident in his 30s was apprehended with the apartment owner's bicycle and cash. In a fourth incident, a resident from Mateh Binyamin in his 40s was caught inside a Rothschild Street restaurant attempting to hide from arriving officers.

All suspects were taken for questioning at the Lev Tel Aviv station. The detention of some suspects has been extended by the court, while others are scheduled for hearings on extending their arrests. Police stated they will continue to act decisively, both visibly and covertly, against property criminals who attempt to exploit holidays to damage public property.
