Chief Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef Leads Yom Kippur Prayers and Rituals
During the Yom Kippur holiday, Chief Rabbi Yitzhak Yosef spent the day at the 'Chazon Ovadia' yeshiva in Jerusalem, which he presides over. The yeshiva is headed by his son, Rabbi Rachamim Yosef. Throughout the fast day, Rabbi Yosef led prayers, including the concluding 'Ne'ilah' service, with great spiritual fervor.
Following the Ne'ilah service and the blowing of the shofar, Rabbi Yosef led the yeshiva students outside for the 'Birkat Hachama' (Blessing of the Moon) ceremony, accompanied by singing and spiritual upliftment. This ritual is traditionally performed on the first night of Rosh Chodesh (the new Jewish month).
After the moon blessing, participants returned to the yeshiva hall. At the conclusion of Yom Kippur, Rabbi Yosef officiated the 'Havdalah' ceremony, marking the end of the fast. He offered blessings for a good final sealing and a blessed new year to the yeshiva students and the general public.
