Israel's Avocado Harvest Poised for Record Yield in 2026-27
Israeli farmers are anticipating a record-breaking avocado harvest for the 2026-27 agricultural season, with total production expected to exceed 280,000 tons. Approximately 170,000 tons of the bumper crop are slated for export, up from 150,000 tons shipped abroad last year. The domestic market also shows strong demand, with the average Israeli consuming about 10 kilograms of avocados annually.
The economic success of avocado cultivation has spurred expansion, with 12,000 dunams dedicated to avocado plantations in the Upper Galilee alone. Farmers are also cultivating avocados in other regions, such as the Hula Valley, overcoming challenges like frost and seedling protection.
