Israel Anticipates Record Avocado Harvest, Boosting Exports

Translated & summarized from NEWSru Israel by baba
The story · English

Israel is poised for a record avocado harvest in the 2026/27 season, with projections exceeding 280,000 tons, an increase of 50,000 tons compared to the previous year. This forecast comes from a review by Galil Export, released at the start of the avocado gathering season. The company also anticipates a rise in Israeli avocado exports to approximately 170,000 tons, up from 150,000 tons last year.

On average, Israeli consumers consume about 10 kilograms of avocados annually. Avocado plantations currently cover around 12,000 dunams in the Upper Galilee region. Due to the crop's economic success, cultivation is expanding into areas previously avoided because of frost risks and difficulties in protecting the trees, such as the Hula Valley.
