Israel Opens Cambodian Market for Citrus Exports Including Oranges and Grapefruits

Israel's Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security has finalized a professional agreement with Cambodian authorities to open Cambodia as a new export destination for Israeli citrus fruits. Starting from the upcoming export season, Israeli farmers and exporters will be able to sell oranges, clementines, lemons, grapefruits, and pomelos to the Cambodian market. The Citrus Growers Association of Israel estimates the export potential to Cambodia at around 10,000 tons annually.

Oren Lavi, CEO of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, stated that the initiative aims to strengthen the competitiveness of Israeli farmers by opening new markets and removing export barriers. He emphasized that expanding market access leads to a stronger local agriculture sector, increased production and supply, and more competitive prices within Israel.

This agreement with Cambodia is part of a broader strategy to expand Israeli agricultural exports to the Far East. The ministry has supported Israeli exporters' participation in major international trade shows such as Asia Fruit Logistica, a key event for agricultural produce in Asia. Additionally, cooperation with Japan is advancing the opening of its market to other Israeli produce including watermelons, melons, and gourds.
