IDF Kills Hamas Health Ministry Official's Son, Elite Unit Commander
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced Tuesday that it had killed Basser Al-Bashir, the son of Dr. Munir Al-Bashir, who serves as the director-general of Hamas's Ministry of Health in Gaza. The strike occurred in Jabalia, in the northern Gaza Strip.
Al-Bashir himself was a commander in Hamas's elite Nukhba force, the military wing of the organization. His death marks another blow to Hamas's military and administrative leadership.
The IDF has been conducting operations in Gaza following the October 7th attacks, targeting Hamas infrastructure and personnel. The elimination of individuals connected to both the military and civilian leadership of Hamas is a key objective of the ongoing campaign.
