IDF Strikes Vehicle in Gaza, Targeting Senior Hamas Weapons Official
The Israeli military conducted an airstrike overnight on a vehicle in the northern Gaza Strip, according to Palestinian media reports. Social media posts from Gaza indicate that the strike eliminated Ahmed al-Batesh, a senior figure in Hamas's military wing. Palestinian reports identified al-Batesh as the commander of the weapons division for Hamas's northern Gaza brigade and, during the current war, as the commander of the Jabalia battalion.
Further claims suggest al-Batesh was among the senior Hamas officials from the northern Gaza brigade who participated in the October 7th incursion into Israel. The strike occurred shortly before midnight and was reportedly aimed directly at the vehicle al-Batesh was traveling in.
At this time, details regarding the identity of the eliminated individual and his roles are based on Palestinian reports. The IDF has not yet officially confirmed the strike or the elimination.
