IDF Eliminates Senior Hamas Weapons Official in Gaza Drone Strike
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) eliminated Ahmed al-Batsh, a senior Hamas official, in a drone strike on his vehicle shortly before midnight. Palestinian sources identified with Hamas reported that al-Batsh served as the head of the weapons division for Hamas's northern brigade. According to these sources, he played a central role in the October 7th attack on southern Israel, acting as the commander of Jabalia battalion in Hamas. He maintained this role throughout the war, even as the IDF operated in Jabalia.
Al-Batsh's funeral procession was scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. from Al-Shifa Hospital, proceeding to Al-Kanze Mosque in Gaza City for funeral prayers. Following the prayers, the procession was to continue to the Sheikh Radwan cemetery for burial. It is anticipated that Hamas operatives whom Israel seeks to eliminate will participate in the funeral of the senior official.
