Father of Six Killed in Terror Attack Near West Bank Spring

A 30-year-old father of six, Netanel Shachron, was killed in a Palestinian terrorist attack near the Ein-Raya (Ein-Tzuf) spring in the West Bank on the eve of Yom Kippur. Shachron, from the settlement of Alei Zahav, was at the spring for ritual immersion when a Palestinian terrorist driving a car opened fire with an M-16 rifle. Shachron, who was in his vehicle approaching the spring, sustained critical injuries and later died at Beilinson Hospital in Petah Tikva. His son, who was also in the car, was unharmed.

The alleged perpetrator, Qadri Muhammad Samara from the village of Biddu near Giv'at Ze'ev, was wounded and apprehended by IDF forces shortly after the attack. Elite Duvdevan unit soldiers tracked and detained Samara in a Palestinian clinic where he sought medical attention and refuge. Following the incident, National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir called for the application of the death penalty for terrorists. IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir visited the scene to assess the situation with senior military and police commanders. Zamir ordered a blockade of Samara's village, a search for accomplices, and the sealing and demolition of the terrorist's home. He emphasized the IDF's ongoing commitment to preventing terror and protecting Israeli citizens, especially during the High Holy Days.
