Yovel Hochstetter, the young forward named the Israeli Basketball Premier League’s breakout player of the season, has taken his first step overseas. He has finalized terms with Brose Bamberg and will play in Germany’s Bundesliga in the coming season, with the move completed through his agent, Nadav Mor.
Hochstetter rose quickly after a strong breakout year with Ironi Kiryat Ata. He was chosen as the league’s breakout player after moving up from the National League, then having a successful first season in the Premier League. His next stop is the German club, which finished third in the league last season and will compete in the FIBA Champions League next year.
Several leading Israeli teams were interested in signing him, but Hochstetter opted to continue his professional career in Germany. In Kiryat Ata, he was seen as one of the club’s biggest success stories in recent years, alongside Ben Saraf, who also earned breakout-player honors and later moved from the club to Ratiopharm Ulm.
In 25 regular-season games, Hochstetter averaged 18.6 minutes, 7.6 points, 2.6 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game.
