Israel’s Health Ministry said on Sunday that it had received a report of another person suspected of having Ebola, one day after the first Ebola case was identified in Israel. The patient had recently returned from the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
According to the ministry, the person came back to Israel two days earlier and sought medical care after developing a fever, headache and diarrhea. Officials stressed that this is only a suspicion at this stage and that the required tests are now underway.
Results are expected in the coming days. The patient is being treated in isolation, in line with professional procedures for managing highly contagious diseases.
The person is being transferred to Sheba Medical Center, Tel Hashomer, which has been designated as one of the specialized centers for receiving suspected cases of this kind.
