Israel is increasing its military readiness ahead of the Yom Kippur holiday, anticipating potential threats from multiple directions, with Iran remaining a primary focus of intelligence agencies. Israeli intelligence believes Iran is approaching a period of significant internal upheaval that could destabilize the region. While specific intelligence on attacks during the holiday was lacking as of September 19, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) are preparing for various scenarios, including renewed Hezbollah activity, Houthi actions, and escalating tensions with Iran. Mossad and Military Intelligence are prioritizing the situation within Iran, assessing the possibility of major disruptions to the current regime. Some Israeli security circles reportedly aim to facilitate a change in Iran's government, though the timing and inevitability of such shifts are uncertain. Iran is viewed as the central node in a regional threat network, with its actions impacting Lebanon, Yemen, and the wider Middle East.

Following a September 19 incident in southern Lebanon where an IDF bulldozer struck an explosive device, injuring two soldiers, Israel conducted airstrikes on Hezbollah targets.
