The official, speaking to the local newspaper The National, stated that the UAE does not discuss security and intelligence matters at the leadership level, but rather through relevant professional channels.
This statement marks the first official response from the UAE to an investigative report published by the Israeli newspaper Haaretz. The Haaretz report alleged that approximately a week and a half before the war began, a 45-minute phone call took place between bin Zayed and Netanyahu. According to the report, the UAE president warned Netanyahu that Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar was planning a significant military operation against Israel, which could lead to widespread bloodshed, regional instability, and harm the Abraham Accords.
The Prime Minister's Office had previously denied the Haaretz report, asserting that no phone call between Netanyahu and bin Zayed occurred during the specified period before October 7.
