Gunfire and Robbery Erupt at Wedding Hall in Baqa al-Gharbiyye
Police in Baqa al-Gharbiyye launched an investigation Saturday evening into a robbery and shooting incident that occurred at a local event hall. Security footage of the event was released. Numerous police forces were dispatched to the scene and initiated extensive searches for the suspects, who managed to escape. No injuries were reported in the incident, and the circumstances are under investigation.
The incident follows a violent week in the region. Last week, three young men from Jaljulia, brothers Yazan (16) and Qassem Odeh (20), and their cousin Yahya Bassam (22), were found dead in a burned-out car near Baqa al-Gharbiyye. Police are investigating this incident as a criminal matter.
Yahya Bassam's father, Alaa Bassam, recounted that his son had been with family at a wedding in Kafr Qasim the day before his death. He stated Yahya was a "good and quiet boy" with no known conflicts, expressing his hope for peace and frustration with the ongoing violence, saying, "The state and the government have finished us."
Separately, the previous day, a 14-year-old boy was seriously injured by gunfire in Kafr Kanna in the Lower Galilee. He was taken to a local clinic before being evacuated by Magen David Adom paramedics to Nazareth's English Hospital with penetrating wounds. Police are investigating this shooting, also citing a criminal background and ongoing examination of circumstances.
