Groom Arrested After Armed Wedding Video Circulates Online

Eleven suspects were arrested in the northern city of Shefa-‘Amr after videos spread on social media showing people carrying weapons during a wedding. Among those detained were the groom, the bride, and the event hall owner, as police widened their crackdown on violent crime in Arab society.

According to the article, the footage prompted concern and triggered an investigation. After reviewing the videos, security forces raided the suspects’ homes overnight and took all 11 in for questioning at the local police station.

Three of the suspects are due to appear in court today, where police will ask to extend their detention. The arrests came as part of a broader law enforcement effort targeting illegal weapons in the Arab sector.

Separately, security forces also operated on Sunday in the West Bank as part of the fight against illegal arms. They found weapons including an M16 rifle seized in Hebron and an MP5 pistol hidden in a bathroom wall in Bethlehem, and arrested suspects for questioning. Police also confiscated a large sum of cash that they believe was intended for an arms deal.
