Ogen Launches 'My First Home' Program in Umm Al-Fahm to Aid Families

The non-profit social financial organization Ogen, in partnership with the Economic Development Authority of the Ministry of Social Equality and the Umm Al-Fahm municipality, launched the 'My First Home' program on Tuesday, September 15, 2026. The initiative aims to support young families in their journey to purchase or build their first home.

The launch event, held at the Al-Ghazali Science and Arts Center, saw significant attendance from residents of Umm Al-Fahm and surrounding areas, highlighting keen interest in the new housing project. Khaled Hassan, Arab Community Director at Ogen, emphasized the importance of the collaboration and explained that the program will assist Arab families in managing their finances, understanding their economic capacity, and preparing for mortgage applications.

Dr. Samir Mahamid, Mayor of Umm Al-Fahm, underscored the municipality's commitment to facilitating procedures and removing obstacles for residents seeking affordable housing. He also stressed the value of the 'My First Home' program in providing professional guidance for sound financial decision-making.

Salima Mustafa Suliman from the Economic Development Authority stated that the authority will support families until they receive their home keys. Nizar Mahajna, legal advisor for Fathi Brothers, one of the project's implementing companies, detailed the process of acquiring an apartment, from registration to payment and handover, noting Ogen's role in providing necessary financial support.

Manal Khoury, a mortgage consultant from Ogen, and economic advisor Amir Blan outlined the eight-month financial accompaniment program, which includes consultations, bank liaison, and payment arrangements to help beneficiaries navigate the mortgage process confidently. The event concluded with individual consultations and Q&A sessions, demonstrating the public's strong need for such information and support.

The 'My First Home' program offers practical tools for expense management, increasing equity, reducing fixed costs, understanding mortgage details, and improving financial negotiation skills. Ogen is inviting eligible families to utilize the program and plans to announce future locations for the initiative soon, with families from other Arab towns and villages also intending to join.
