Seven-Year-Old Boy Dies in Road Accident Near Rahat

A seven-year-old boy died on Friday in a road accident near the southern city of Rahat. The child, who was unconscious, was brought by a private vehicle to meet with Magen David Adom (MDA) emergency medical personnel on Road 264, near the entrance junction to the city. Paramedics found the boy with severe, multi-system injuries and no signs of life, and pronounced him dead at the scene.

"We met with a private vehicle that brought us the child who was unconscious near the entrance junction to Rahat. They told us he was injured in a road accident. We performed medical examinations, he suffered from multi-system injuries and was without signs of life, and we had no choice but to pronounce his death," said MDA paramedic Malek Abu Arara.

The police have opened an investigation into the circumstances of the accident, which involved a private vehicle and a pedestrian. Rahat police officers and Negev District traffic accident investigators arrived at the scene and are continuing their investigation.

The child's death follows a deadly 24-hour period on Israeli roads. On Thursday, five people were killed in four separate accidents across the country, including a cyclist in Tel Aviv, two men in the Negev, a driver in a bus-car collision, and a motorcyclist near Kiryat Ata. Overnight, a 17-year-old was killed by a vehicle in Hadera, and other accidents resulted in serious injuries to a motorcyclist near Tayibe and a driver who crashed into a tree near the Sea of Galilee.
