Nova Party Victim's Mother Confronts Ex-IDF Intel Chief Haliva

The mother of a victim murdered at the Nova music festival on October 7th, Shelly Meshel Yogev, confronted former head of Military Intelligence Major General (res.) Aharon Haliva in a chance encounter. Meshel Yogev, whose daughter Libby Cohen Maguri was killed at the festival, shared a video of the exchange where she told Haliva, "You know who I am, you live a kilometer from us. Three years since she was murdered, you haven't bothered to come."

Meshel Yogev questioned Haliva about his lack of engagement with her family, contrasting it with visits from other officials. She stated that the Chief of Staff at the time, Herzi Halevi, had called the family and visited with a "humbled look." She challenged Haliva, asking if it would have been difficult for him to inquire about Libby, who served as an Intelligence Corps officer and managed a mission in the Southern Command, suggesting he could have easily contacted Southern Command to learn about her.

In a written post accompanying the video, Meshel Yogev expressed that individuals with a duty to provide answers should be ashamed to walk the streets and should pause to embrace those whose lives were halted on October 7th, rather than responding dismissively. Libby Cohen Maguri, 22, was killed while attempting to flee the Nova festival. She had called her parents shortly before her death, informing them she had been shot and asking them to relay messages to her siblings. Her parents urged her to play dead, but terrorists approached her vehicle and killed her at close range. Her last words to her mother were, "They are coming to shoot me again," followed by intense gunfire heard over the phone before the call ended.
