Bereaved Mother Confronts Former IDF Intel Chief Aharon Haliva
Shelly Meshel Yogev, the mother of Libi Cohen-Meguri, who was killed in the Nova music festival massacre on October 7, confronted former head of Military Intelligence Major General (res.) Aharon Haliva during a chance encounter in a park on Friday. The confrontation, which was widely shared on social media, saw the grieving mother express her anger and pain to Haliva.
Meshel Yogev told Haliva, "You know who I am, you've heard of Libi and you know her father. You know us very well, and you live a kilometer from our home, and for three years you haven't bothered to visit once." Libi Cohen-Meguri, 22, from Tel Aviv, served as an infantry officer in the Southern Command. She was murdered by terrorists on October 7 on Road 232 while attempting to flee the Nova festival.
Haliva resigned from his position as head of Military Intelligence in April, taking responsibility for the intelligence failures that preceded the October 7 Hamas attacks. He had previously stated that he would resign after the war, but ultimately stepped down earlier.
