Police Launch Probe Into Allegations Against Road Company Chairman
Israel's Government Companies Authority has asked the police to investigate allegations of forgery and other offenses concerning Idan David, the chairman of Netivei Ayalon (Ayalon Highways). The request follows a Channel 12 investigative report that raised questions about the professional experience David presented during his appointment process.
Police have initiated a preliminary review, emphasizing it is not yet a criminal investigation. The review will examine discrepancies between data David provided about his work experience, particularly regarding his roles at Migdalit and GROUP IDY, and other documents. The Government Companies Authority is demanding external, reliable proof to verify the information David submitted.
Specifically, the report highlighted significant differences in Migdalit's financial figures as presented by David compared to official financial statements. In one instance, David claimed the company had NIS 1.1 billion in assets and NIS 814 million in revenue, while financial reports indicated only NIS 19.2 million in assets and NIS 16.9 million in revenue for 2015. Furthermore, an accountant whose signature appeared on a document denied ever signing it.
Similar scrutiny is being applied to David's claims about GROUP IDY, where he stated he was CEO and the company generated NIS 2.1 billion in revenue with NIS 4.8 billion in assets. The authority is requesting documentation to substantiate these claims.
David has been asked to respond in writing with a sworn affidavit by September 22. The Government Companies Authority warned that providing inaccurate information could jeopardize his appointment and potentially lead to criminal proceedings. David was appointed to the Ayalon Highways board in July 2025 and elected chairman later that month. He previously served as CEO of Ashkelon Municipality. David has stated that the appointments committee reviewed his qualifications and documents and found him suitable for the role, calling the forgery claims serious.
